We quickly found that the Raspberry Pi 3 B+ even when on the 2.4GHz network was generally delivering noticeably better performance than the Raspberry Pi 3 B, but obviously the much better performance is now being able to exploit 5GHz WiFi from the Raspberry Pi.

The Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ was generally on par with the ASUS TinkerBoard for 2.4GHz WiFi performance, while it's great now having 802.11ac dual-band WiFi on this $35 SBC... Assuming you have 5GHz WiFi.

Netperf was showing similar performance to iPerf on these three tested ARM single-board computers.

Long story short, the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ is indeed delivering faster WiFi performance overall... A marginal improvement on 2.4GHz but much faster if you have 5GHz WiFi access. Overall, the wireless networking improvements are a nice way to round out the much faster Ethernet performance (but still not to its full potential due to being limited by USB 2.0), much better thermal performance, and a decent speed boost as outlined in yesterday's Raspberry Pi 3 B+ benchmarks.
