One of the areas with the biggest regression on the latest open-source software is in code compilation speed. But that isn't entirely surprising as new GCC releases (and compilers at large) tend to trade increased build times for greater optimization passes in the name of trying to assemble a more optimal/faster binary. Some of the compiler slowdowns were quite significant in any case.
