Radeon RX 5700 / RX 5700 XT Linux Gaming Performance With AMDGPU 5.3 + Mesa 19.2-devel
Feral's Warhammer 2 Linux port saw the RX 5700 XT performing similar to the Radeon VII that was just ahead of the RTX 2070 while the RX 5700 was effectively tied with the GTX 1080 for this Vulkan-powered Linux game.
Unigine Heaven on Linux with OpenGL showed the RX 5700 series coming in light with the XT model being just ahead of the GTX 1080. Hopefully more RadeonSI performance optimizations by Marek are just around the corner.
If taking a look at today's metrics, the Radeon RX 5700 XT based on the geometric mean of all these gaming benchmarks was 5% faster than the GeForce RTX 2070 while the Radeon RX 5700 was just above the GTX 1080. But in some of the games performing very well on Linux, the Radeon RX 5700 XT was similar to the RTX 2080 and even the RX 5700 hitting the RTX 2070 performance.
It will be interesting to see where these Linux driver optimizations play out over the next few weeks. With things stabilizing more, there will be more tests soon including a look this week at the RADV vs. AMDVLK Vulkan driver performance.
