AMD Ryzen 9 7900X / 7950X Linux Gaming Performance

Right off the bat with HITMAN 3 kicking off the Linux gaming tests, the Ryzen 9 7900 series processors were right out in front -- outpacing the likes of Intel Alder Lake and the Ryzen 7 5800X3D. The Core i9 12900K for HITMAN 3 was exhibiting stability problems for this game that runs on Linux by way of Steam Play (Proton).

DiRT Rally 2.0 is another Steam Play title under Linux and was showing significant uplift from the Ryzen 5000 series processors when in CPU-limited scenarios. The Ryzen 5000 series for this Proton-powered game was already faster than Alder Lake and thus the lead simply widened on the AMD side.

But where the DiRT Rally 2.0 performance on the Ryzen 9 7900 series is less compelling is when it comes to the power consumption being higher than the Core i9 12900K Alder Lake processor though was ahead in power efficiency while also coming ahead of the Ryzen 9 3900/5900 series.
