SteamOS vs. Windows 8.1 NVIDIA Performance

While any of the tested graphics cards could easily handle the open-source OpenArena game, on the GeForce GTX 650 the performance was close between SteamOS 1.0 Beta and Microsoft Windows 8.1. With the higher-end GeForce GTX 760 and GTX 780 Ti graphics cards the performance on SteamOS was beginning to exceed Windows 8.1.

When running Unigine Heaven 4.0, the Windows 8.1 performance on the same hardware was slightly ahead of SteamOS Beta 1.

The GeForce GTX 650 ran into issues with Unigine Sanctuary (and Tropics), but between the GTX 760 and GTX 780 Ti graphics cards the performance was nearly the same on Windows 8.1 and SteamOS.
