Moving onto the 3D benchmarks, five of the six desktops were running at close to the same speed on Ubuntu 14.04 with the Intel Ivy Bridge HD Graphics stack except for KDE 4.12.3 in its packaged state for the "Trusty Tahr" was running behind the rest.

For these 3D/OpenGL benchmarks, all the desktops were performing quite good and close to one another with the exception being KDE 4.12.3 in its state as found by default in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.
