Overall, the CPU performance is very good with KVM virtualization of Ubuntu 14.10 with the Linux 3.16 kernel on the Core i7 4790K CPU with very little overhead. Again, more interesting Linux virtualization tests will be coming in the months ahead with these just being some early numbers prior to encountering a Xen issue on the system that led to this round of testing being cut short.
