Vendetta Curse of Raven's Cry Is Another Sad Linux Game Port
Thinking perhaps the Vendetta Curse of Raven's Cry is hitting a Catalyst/Radeon issue, I decided to try out a GeForce GTX 960 on the NVIDIA 358 proprietary driver.
The performance didn't seem to be much better with the GeForce GTX 960 on NVIDIA's Linux driver... The GTX 960 can usually run every Steam Linux game out there at 1920x1080~2560x1600.
When the benchmark finished, the game reported that the current hardware (Core i5 6500K + GTX 960) doesn't support low-detail settings for the game.
Besides the performance being atrocious, I wasn't even able to get the supposed command-line driven benchmarking to work for this game. Their Steam launcher for Linux of this game by default doesn't even pass any command-line arguments. While there's the in-game benchmark from the menu, the command-line mode doesn't seem to work.
The game didn't want to work out-of-the-box on Ubuntu (and many others also encountered this issue), the performance seems to be a disaster (I guess this was also a problem with the original Raven's Cry), and the command-line benchmarking switches weren't there. After the experience when trying this game with the Radeon R9 290 and GeForce GTX 960, I went ahead and returned the game as being another piss poor Linux game port.
