Core i3 vs. Core i5 Performance Impact On OpenGL/Vulkan Linux Gaming
With the rather light ET:Legacy game, using the Core i5 CPU led to about an 8% increase in frame-rates.
With Tesseract the higher-end Kabylake CPU led to a 12% rise in performance for the Radeon R9 Fury.
With Team Fortress 2 was also about a 12% boost in performance with the Core i5 7600K over the Core i3 7100.
Those are our latest Kabylake Linux benchmarks to pass along today and for those interested in the impact of Core i3 vs. Core i5 for a Linux gaming PC. The Vulkan numbers in particular were interesting and will run a three-way comparison with a Core i7 7700K when it arrives in a few days and perhaps a few other graphics cards when looking at the OpenGL vs. Vulkan impact on CPUs. This test selection today was also limited by testing the HD Graphics 630 while in the next round I'll skip on the Intel graphics to run some more demanding Linux games.
