When firing up NASA's NPB parallel benchmarks that are common in the HPC space, near consistently was very sizable uplift in making exclusive use of the HBM2e memory. Very nice improvements by leveraging the HBM2e memory.

Algebraic Multi-Grid Benchmark benchmark with settings of . Xeon Max 9468 2P: HBM Only was the fastest.

Some of the performance improvements were very impressive in HBM-only mode.

Xcompact3d Incompact3d benchmark with settings of Input: input.i3d 193 Cells Per Direction. Xeon Max 9480 2P: HBM Only was the fastest.

It's easy to see why the Aurora supercomputer design is based around going with the Xeon Max processors compared to standard (non-Max) Sapphire Rapids processors.
