The Linux Foundation's "Automotive Grade Linux" infotainment platform is out with an update to its Unified Code Base (UCB) as the basis of various IVI systems from different automobile vendors.

Automotive Grade Linux UCB 3.0 "Charming Chinook" is the new release as of yesterday. AGL attempts to provide "70-80% of the starting point for a production project. This enables automakers and suppliers to focus their resources on customizing the other 20-30% to meet their unique product needs."

With AGL UCB 3.0 there is a new default home screen and window manager, a new SDK for application development, an improved application framework and application launcher, new reference applications, Smart Device Link for mobile phone integration, and expanded hardware support.

Unfortunately, the technical details on AGL UCB 3.0 are light and no easy Git repository to get a nice technical glance of the changes. Automotive Grade Linux does appear to still be using Wayland judging from these closed work items but unfortunately haven't found an overview yet of the AGL 3.0 window manager changes.
