AMDGPU Support Added To Mesa's DRM Library
The many AMDGPU Libdrm patches just made their way into the mainline Git tree! This is needed for interfacing by the RadeonSI Gallium3D driver with this new DRM kernel driver supporting the Radeon R9 285 "TONGA", Carrizo, and Fury/Fiji GPUs coming with Linux 4.3.
As of writing this article, the AMDGPU winsys addition and other changes to Mesa haven't yet been mainlined, but that's likely the next step coming very shortly given the libdrm integration today. The code is expected to come together for Mesa 11.0.
For utilizing the AMDGPU Linux stack with the newest Radeon GPUs you'll need Linux 4.2, libdrm Git, Mesa Git (soon as it's merged), LLVM 3.7 or ideally 3.8 SVN, and the new xf86-video-amdgpu DDX driver. There's also new binary firmware files needed for your respective GPU. Once the Mesa code lands, there will be another article with confirmation.
