Allwinner: "We Are Taking Initiative Actions Internally"

Allwinner has been taking a lot of heat lately for violating open-source licenses with their Linux binary blob components. They then got caught obfuscating their code to try to hide their usage of open-source code, shifted around their licenses, and has continued jerking around the open-source community.

An Allwinner employee reached out to Phoronix to try to improve the situation, but sadly it leaves more questions than answers. Eva Wu, a member of Allwinner's marketing department, has interacted with other members of the Linux/open-source community in the past and then reached out to me to say they're taking steps internally on the matter...

This is Eva from Allwinner marketing department. We are quite aware of the complaints in open source community, and we are taking initiative actions internally. I will update you once we are ready. Thanks for your patience.

Sadly though, this isn't a different tune than what Allwinner employees have been saying for months on linux-sunxi and elsewhere. They've been saying they're taking steps to correct the issues, but in the end, they still have yet to be realized and the licensing issues remain -- it's been going on for months.

Will update if I end up hearing anything more concrete out of Allwinner going forward.
