Android N DP2 Brings Full Vulkan Support

One month after publishing the first developer preview of the upcoming Android N, Google today announced Android N Developer Preview 2 with exciting changes.

Android N Developer Preview 2 brings full Vulkan API support, launcher shortcuts, emojis from Unicode 9.0 are now supported, various API changes, and an assortment of bug fixes.

Yes, the big exciting feature of Android N DP2 is the Vulkan 3D API support! It's great to see the support all aligned now for Vulkan on mobile to compete with Metal on iOS. Initially though, it appears Android N DP2 only supports Vulkan with the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. Details on Vulkan for Android can be found here.
