Following the Krita 3.0 porting work to Qt5 and KF5, Calligra Words is benefiting from the porting of shared code by Krita that they too now can be a "pure" Qt5 tool-kit plus KDE Frameworks 5 application.

Calligra Words, their word-processor, is the latest component now targeting the latest Qt/KDE APIs without any KDE4 dependencies. The Calligra Words 3.0 release isn't ready yet, and it sounds like it won't be until 2016, but now they've moved on to just fixing regressions/glitches and finishing porting other Calligra apps. The developers say that "we are dedicated here to make e.g. Calligra Words finally a serious editor for serious documents."

More details on the Calligra Words Qt5/KF5 porting can be found via this blog post.
