Fedora 22 Is Running Fairly Well So Far
While Fedora 22 isn't being released for several more months, so far it's running quite well.
Fedora 22 is expected for release in May with a number of exciting features and updates as already covered in dozens of Phoronix articles about F22. This morning I gave a recent Fedora 22 snapshot a spin to see how it's running. Overall, on the few systems tested, things were fairly smooth.
Going in step with Fedora 22 are many exciting GNOME 3.16 improvements. The GNOME 3.15 development release on Fedora 22 was running smooth though the HiDPI support seemed a bit problematic on one of the ultrabooks used for testing.
Fedora 22 is using the GTK3 version of Firefox as patched for the F22 RPMs.
This version of Firefox was running fairly well though there were some menu alignment issues present.
DNF continues running well as a replacement to Yum. Even on my Fedora 21 boxes I've been trying out DNF to great success. The Wayland support for Fedora 22 also is getting into great shape thanks to the upstream improvements.
That was my brief Fedora 22 testing this morning. In the weeks ahead as Fedora 22 gets closer will be more coverage followed by our plethora of Linux benchmarking.
