FESCo Approves Latest Round Of Fedora 25 Features
The Fedora Engineering and Steering Committee (FESCo) has approved nearly all of the recently proposed features for the upcoming Fedora 25 Linux release.
The approved features for Fedora 25 at Friday's FESCo meeting included:
- All of the self-contained features, including Golang 1.7, HT Condor 8.6, better switchable graphics, ibus-typing-booster_multilingual_support, transdiff, Erlang 19, Zend Framework 3, and Bodhi non-RPM artifacts.
- Automatic provides for Python RPM packages.
- Ruby on Rails 5.0 will be offered by Fedora 25.
- SSSD fast cache for local users will happen.
- Unicode 9.0 will be supported by Fedora 25.
- GHC 7.10 will be available on F25.
- The new Fedora Media Writer will be offered as a primary download option for making it easy to write Fedora install images to USB.
- KillUserProcess=yes will be enabled by default with systemd.
The only item not approved/delayed was the IBus Emoji Typing feature, which has been deferred for more discussion. More details via this mailing list thread.
