Fedora 26 Will Likely Be Released Mid-May
Fedora developers have been working to come up with a schedule for Fedora 26 to succeed the November release of Fedora 25.
The current proposed schedule has the mass rebuild happening in January, an alpha release at the end of February, the beta release middle of April, and the official Fedora 26 release on 16 May.
This schedule so far hasn't been firmed up and at yesterday's Fedora Engineering and Steering Committee they deferred action over it for another week until getting more feedback from the release engineering team. Among the concerns are the timing of the mass rebuild for F26 and other factors around it.
There's also been interest by some in getting rid of Fedora Alpha releases in favor of just having the Fedora Beta and GA releases. Those wanting to get rid of Fedora Alpha would prefer that the development release of Fedora always be in an alpha state, similar to Ubuntu having cut back on its development releases in favor of daily, automated quality. It's not yet known though whether the elimination of the alpha will happen for Fedora 26 or not.
The tentative Fedora 26 release schedule with the date to ship of 16 May can be found via this FESCo ticket page.
