Fedora Users Now Have An Experimental Firefox Wayland Package
While Fedora 24 made great inroads on their Wayland support plans for running GNOME by default off this next-generation technology compared to X11, the Firefox package in Fedora currently relies upon Wayland.
However, if you are an early adopter of Firefox on Wayland, there is a new package available for experimenting with native Firefox GTK3 on Wayland without resorting to XWayland. Red Hat's Martin Stransky has published a Copr repository that offers Firefox for Wayland.
The firefox-wayland package can be found here and it serves as a replacement to Fedora's stock Firefox web-browser. This package is built off Firefox 47 currently and contains an outside patch for enabling the Wayland support while retaining X11 compatibility.
This Firefox Wayland support hasn't yet been merged into any of the official Fedora packages since it breaks some functionality when run under X11. Features like remote connections, OMTC, and OpenGL acceleration are among the features that regress with this current build.
