GNOME 3.18 is shaping up to be another super exciting GNOME 3 update. Aside from GTK+ improvements, better Wayland support, and various other additions being worked on for GNOME 3.18, there's also significant improvements planned for the Nautilus file manager.

GNOME developer Carlos Soriano has shared some of the plans for the Nautilus work items he's planning for the near future. Among the Nautilus work is a new folder dialog, improved search UI, better sync services, start working on a built-in file previewer, and more.

There's already a number of new Nautilus design mock-ups, which you can see via this folder on GitHub.

Much more information on the GNOME Nautilus 3.18 plans can be found via Soriano's blog post.
