The past few months has seen lots of work on adding GTK3 support to LibreOffice. That work is slowly but surely getting accomplished.

Caolán McNamara today added GTK3 clipboard support to the Vclplug. McNamara added this GTK3 clipboard support rather than continuing to rely on the X11 clipboard support in order to run on Wayland. With GTK3 clipboard support there is handling for both X11 and Wayland environments. Cut and paste were implemented as part of this with the GTK3 APIs.

The developer was actually quite pleased with the GTK3 clipboard handling in that it was much better than the X11 way of doing things. Caolán wrote, "it turns out the gtk clipboard apis are really good and its reasonably easy to get it up and running. So the LibreOffice gtk3 vclplug now has clipboard support."

He also said the last major thing to do with their porting is the GTK3 GStreamer integration for video playback. After that it's mostly about cleaning up the state of this GTK3 support.
