One of the questions that came up following our GNOME 3.26 feature overview was how GTK4's Vulkan renderer is coming along.

It's coming along as is GTK4, albeit not ready for production use quite yet.

Happening to land just today is now a primitive glyph cache for the GTK Vulkan code. Currently this glyph cache is just a proof of concept, but we'll see how it evolves.

There has also been recent work on text nodes, Vulkan crash fixes, and improved resource handling, among other changes.

It will be interesting to see how this Vulkan back-end and GTK4 itself evolve as we move into 2018.
