Facebook developers today announced the release of HHVM 3.8.0, their interpreter for PHP and their own Hack programming language.

HHVM 3.8 delivers on the recently reported performance improvements from their latest "lockdown" at Facebook where they were tuning the performance further. This lockdown yielded results of HHVM now being even faster than the current PHP 7 development code.

According to Facebook's numbers, HHVM 3.8 is about 9.7% faster than HHVM 3.7 for Wordpress, 5.2% for Drupal 7, and 4.8% faster for MediaWiki. Drupal 8 Uncached on HHVM 3.8 is now a very noticeably 13.9% faster while the cached version drops down to just a 5.8% improvement.
