Facebook has announced the release today of HHVM 3.9.0, their latest stable release of their open-source project that powers their alternative implementation of PHP as well as their Hack programming language.

HHVM 3.9.0 has improvements to the runtime and type-checker to further improve performance, a new translation cache (TC) garbage collection pass for dealing with code that runs out of memory due to TC exhaustion, and various other changes.

HHVM 3.9 is the company's third long-term support release that will be backed by twelve months of maintenance. More details on HHVM 3.9 can be found via HHVM.com. I'll try to get some fresh benchmarks of HHVM 3.9 vs. PHP 5/7 shortly with the Phoronix Test Suite.
