The HSA Foundation yesterday announced the official v1.0 release of their Heterogeneous System Architecture specification.

The HSA 1.0 specification was established by the HSA Foundation members like AMD, Imagination, ARM, MediaTek, and Samsung. Of course though, NVIDIA and Intel remain the notable outsiders to this specification for heterogeneous computing.

The HSA 1.0 specification includes the HSA System Architecture Specification, HSA Programmers Reference Manual, and HSA Runtime Specification.

The first validated HSA 1.0 hardware is expected to be AMD's Carrizo APUs later in 2015.

The HSA 1.0 specification was announced via this press release.

The open-source Linux HSA support continues to come along via the AMDKFD kernel driver for AMD APUs and in user-space there's the open-source HSA runtime library for Linux systems.
