Iago Toral Quiroga of Igalia has sent out the second version of his massive 103 patches for implementing FP64 support for Intel Haswell hardware within the i965 Mesa driver in order to expose OpenGL 4.0 support.

While Broadwell and newer is at OpenGL 4.4~4.5 (depending upon whether you consider GL 4.5 extensions complete but not 4.5 exposed as complete), the Haswell support has lagged behind while Igalia has continued finishing up the main blocker for GL4 support: ARB_gpu_shader_fp64.

The latest 103 patches are now available for testing and review to get to OpenGL 4.0 for these once amazing but now aging processors.

The Mesa feature freeze for the 13.0 release is set for Friday and it's not clear if these patches have the potential to merge this week in time for delivering Haswell GL4 for this next Mesa stable release due out in November. Nevertheless, those with some initiative can now build these latest patches for said support.
