VULKAN
As some more fun benchmarks today -- yes, to make sure you're thinking about returning the favor via our Thanksgiving premium offer -- after some AMDGPU-PRO vs. NVIDIA Vulkan/OpenGL Linux benchmarks published this morning, here are some fresh OpenGL vs. Vulkan graphics API performance numbers on the Intel side with their Mesa "ANV" driver.

Here are some numbers with the newest Mesa 13.1-dev Git code as of today (23 November) when running Dota 2 with its OpenGL and Vulkan renderers. While The Talos Principle was included with this morning's comparison, unfortunately, The Talos Principle seems to be running into problems with the current Intel Vulkan code. Whenever launching TTP with Intel Vulkan, I'm just getting an error from the game about not being able to get the display mode. So for this short article, just some Dota 2 numbers but once I have TTP running again with the Intel Linux stack will happily pass along those numbers.

Aside from Mesa 13.1-dev freshly built today was also Linux 4.8 atop Ubuntu 16.10 x86_64. Tests were done with the Skylake HD Graphics 530 of the Core i5 6500K.

At 800x600 as not to fully stress the HD Graphics 530, the Vulkan performance was faster at 49 FPS vs. 44 FPS.

But at 1280 x 1024, the performance was about the same...

And not much of a difference either at 1080p when the basic HD Graphics 530 are fully-strained anyways.

Aside from working to get The Talos Principle running again on the Intel Vulkan driver, I'll do some OpenGL vs. Vulkan tests on my Core i7 5775C Broadwell Iris system that should prove much more interesting for the Intel graphics benchmarks due to the more powerful graphics. Until then, if you didn't yet read it, see this morning's NVIDIA vs. AMDGPU-PRO OpenGL vs. Vulkan benchmark comparison -- as mentioned there, RadeonSI / RADV tests coming too -- busy holiday weekend ahead.
