V4 Of KDBUS Posted For The Linux Kernel

KDBUS didn't make it for Linux 4.0 but version four of the KDBUS patches were posted today for review, which gives out hope we could see this in-kernel IPC interface based on D-Bus merged for Linux 4.1.

Greg Kroah-Hartman posted version four of the fourteen KDBUS kernel IPC patches this morning. This latest revision of KDBUS has improved documentation, various fixes over earlier KDBUS patches, code clean-ups, and other improvements.

KDBUS is sought after for better performance and security over the user-space D-Bus along with other advantages. KDBUS is of interest to systemd developers, is being used for new Linux sand-boxing technology, can potentially be used for PulseAudio and Wayland IPC needs, and there's countless other possibilities.

Greg KH hasn't indicated yet whether he plans to see the code mainlined for Linux 4.1, but it would likely depend upon the outcome of this current review process for the V4 patches. The patches were published a short time ago to the kernel mailing list and are accompanied by a lengthy message explaining the KDBUS benefits, etc.
