KDE Plasma Mobile Explores Switch To AOSP From CyanogenMod

Given the fall of CyanogenMod, it appears KDE Plasma Mobile developers are looking at switching its phone/mobile base operating system over to the upstream Android Open-Source Project (AOSP).

Plasma Mobile has been using CyanogenMod as its base OS for running this KDE mobile OS stack on various Android phones. But given CyanogenMod is effectively ending, it appears Plasma Mobile developers are planning on switching to AOSP over LineageOS, the new fork of CM started by former developers.

KDE developer Bhushan Shah has written a post about the situation. While LineageOS is designed to be a 1:1 fork of CyanogenMod, Plasma Mobile isn't currently using any CM-specific features and it's believed that switching to the Android Open-Source Project isn't actually too much work. There's also this Phabricator report about switching to AOSP in place of CM.
