Martin Gräßlin has shared some of his recently-landed work for the KWin 5.3 development cycle as it largely pertains to Wayland.

Martin has landed the rootless XWayland support into KWin 5.3, while more of the KDE Wayland client work is being postponed until the 5.4 release cycle. With 5.3, kwin_wayland will start a Wayland server but aside from the XWayland instance there are no clients connecting to it. Martin has also made some small nesting compositor improvements to KWin too.

For more details on this latest KDE/KWin Wayland porting work, see Martin's latest blog post today entitled KWinception.
