LLVM 3.9 isn't being released as it was hoped for, but it appears the final release is still just days away.

This latest major update to the LLVM compiler stack and Clang C/C++ compiler is another hearty update that adds a number of new features to benefit the wide variety of LLVM/Clang users. See my earlier LLVM 3.9 feature overview if you aren't yet familiar with the changes.

LLVM 3.9 was supposed to be out on 22 August, but that didn't happen while on Friday marked the release of LLVM 3.9 RC3. The developers hope LLVM 3.9.0 will now be out next week. Succeeding LLVM 3.9 in early 2017 will be LLVM/Clang 4.0.
