LMDE 2 MATE & Cinnamon Editions Released

The MATE and Cinnamon desktop versions of Linux Mint Debian Edition 2 (LMDE 2) are now available for download.

LMDE is the off-shoot of Linux Mint that uses Debian as its package base rather than Ubuntu. LMDE isn't as featureful as Linux Mint and isn't as well maintained, but it's made for those preferring the upstream Debian experience.

LMDE 2 is shipping with some packages that are newer than what's found in the Ubuntu 14.04 LTS based Linux Mint 17.x, which is another potential reason to try out this Linux Mint derivative.
