Libinput 0.20 was released last night and it's a big update with initial support for touchpad gestures.

While basic support for touchpad gestures are in place, so far only swipe and pinch gestures are supported by this input handling library for Wayland and X.Org.

Libinput 0.20 also has edge scrolling support for clickpads, thumb detection support, and there's now a requirement that touchpads expose a resolution.

More details on libinput 0.20 via Peter Hutterer's release announcement. On a related note, sent out yesterday for review but not part of the v0.20 release is a pointer gestures protocol.
