LibreOffice GTK3 Support Got Improved: "Performance Usable"
For what it's worth, it seems the GTK+ 3.x support for LibreOffice is finally becoming "usable" thanks to a Red Hat developer.
Red Hat developer Caolán McNamare made a commit to LibreOffice Git on Wednesday that "[makes] gtk3 performance usable." The commit changes the rendering into the back-buffer multiple times and makes the experience better.
However, you probably don't want to use the GTK3 LibreOffice code quite yet as the commit message also reads, "now it scrolls like the wind, well comparitively anyway, and while you probably wouldn't want to use it yet, you could in a pinch"
GTK3 code has been in the works for LibreOffice for years but remains an experimental feature. While LibreOffice uses its VCL code directly, supporting GTK3 will be important in supporting this open-source office suite on Wayland.
