Collabora and IceWarp are collaborating to create LibreOffice On-Line, a scalable, cloud-hostable version of LibreOffice for the web.

LibreOffice Online is a browser-based version of LibreOffice that's planned to be full-featured similar to the desktop version. Initially the work is being done with the GTK3 HTML5 Broadway back-end for rendering the UI to modern web-browsers. WebSockets are being used for low-latency communication.

With LibreOffice Online there's also plans for collaborative editing, etc. The code is open-source via this Git repository.

More details on this web/cloud-focused version of LibreOffice can be found via Michael Meeks' blog.
