Linux 4.0-rc2 Kernel Released After Delay Due To Intel DRM Driver

Linus Torvalds released the Linux 4.0-rc2 kernel this morning rather than on Sunday night due to having a i915 DRM graphics issue with one of his Apple Mac Mini computers. Aside from fixing up one of Torvalds' old systems, the Linux 4.0-rc2 kernel is a relatively mundane release.

The Linux 4.0-rc2 kernel just brings various bug/regression fixes now being in the post-merge-window for the big Linux 4.0 release. Linux 4.0 brings many features and improvements, as usual for each major kernel version.

Linus noted in the 4.0-rc2 release announcement from a few minutes ago, "Other than that little one-liner i915 fix? Not much, actually. It's been a very quiet week, for being this early in the release process. Sure, 3.19-rc2 was even smaller, so it continues a trend, but that was the xmas week. I hope this low volume is just because the 4.0 merge window itself was somewhat calmer than most recent releases."
