LINUX KERNEL
Right on time, Linus Torvalds has released the Linux 4.1-rc1 kernel.

This first development release of the Linux 4.1 kernel. As outlined earlier today on Phoronix, Linux 4.1 adds many new features -- checkout that article for all of the exciting details about this major update to the Linux kernel. However, it didn't add KDBUS support.

Linus tagged 4.1-rc1 a short time ago in Git but as of writing this article he hasn't yet written his usual brief announcement to the Linux kernel mailing list. Stay tuned for details if he happens to say anything particularly interesting for the 4.1-rc1 announcement.

Linux 4.1 is shaping up to be another interesting release with new features for almost everyone. Our benchmarks of Linux 4.1 will begin shortly on Phoronix.

Update: The official 4.1-rc1 announcement is now available.
