Power Management Sees More P-State Tweaking, Other Changes For Linux 4.11
The work in the power management space this cycle includes improvements to Operating Performance Points (OPP), CPUFreq core clean-ups, new CPUFreq drivers for Broadcom BMIPS and TI SoCs and Qoriq.
The P-State driver has a new sysfs knob to control the driver's operation mode and some fixes along with hardware-managed P-State feature support changes. There is also pstate_sample as an Intel P-State diagnostics tool. The operation mode control via sysfs for P-State allows setting the driver to off, active as the default behavior, or passive if the driver works as a regular CPUFreq implementation and collaborates with the generic CPUFreq governors.
