Takashi Iwai's "sound" updates have been pulled in for the Linux 4.8 kernel.

With the sound/audio work for Linux 4.8 there are a number of new ASoC drivers: Allwinner A10, Analog Devices ADAU7002, Broadcom Cygnus, Cirrus Logic CS35L33/CS53L30, Maxim MAX8960/MAX98504, Realtek RT5514, and Wolfson WM8758. Linux 4.8 also has support for a number of new Mediatek platforms and boards.

In addition to those new sound drivers (with Allwinner A10 sounding most relevant to Phoronix readers for the new mainline support), the sound updates also add error propagating support to the compress-offload API, various HD Audio fixes, updates to Intel ASoC drivers, simple-card improvements, and other changes.

More details on these sound changes for the next version of the Linux kernel via this pull request, which was already accepted into the mainline Git tree.
