While there's just one week left to the month, there are a lot of exciting Linux hardware/software benchmarks coming up on Phoronix over the next week. Here's a preview.

- Continuing from Friday's 22-Way Comparison Of NVIDIA & AMD Graphics Cards On SteamOS For Steam Linux Gaming article will be tests repeated with the higher-end AMD/NVIDIA GPUs while running them at 4K (3840 x 2160) rather than 1080p. I anticipate these SteamOS 4K Linux gaming benchmarks to be published on Monday.

- I'm going to take the SteamOS tests one step further by comparing the relevant GPU performance of the graphics cards on the same system when switching over to Ubuntu 15.10 and then upgrading to LLVM 3.8 SVN + Mesa 11.1-devel Git to look at the latest open-source driver performance possible for Radeon and Nouveau... For the Steam Linux games that run fine on these drivers and the graphics cards that are well supported by the open-source code. Based upon how many tips and new Phoronix Premium subscriptions over this weekend is determining just how much time and resources I'll be devoting to this testing, but from the forums there seems to be a lot of people interested in these Steam Linux open vs. closed-source driver results.

- Fedora 23 desktop OpenGL benchmarks using the default package-set and running some games under KDE Plasma, Xfce, GNOME Shell, LXDE, and MATE.

- Fedora 20 vs. Fedora 21 vs. Fedora 22 vs. Fedora 23 benchmarks on the same system.

- My latest 4K display is this Dell P2415Q 24-inch LED-lit Monitor. This 4K monitor can be found for just over $400 and I'll have my review of it under Linux up soon.

- Some Btrfs vs. ZFS RAID benchmarks on four Western Digital Black 1TB HDDs. Might do some other Linux file-system RAID comparisons too on these four high-performance hard drives, still figuring out all of the details.

- For some fresh SSD Linux RAID benchmarks will be tests off two Samsung 850 EVO SSDs.

- More Linux 4.3 and Linux 4.4 kernel benchmarks.

- Not necessarily next week, but more Intel Skylake Linux tests are forthcoming too.

Well, that's certainly an interesting week's worth of open-source/Linux hardware articles. I'm still planning some other interesting content for November. If you appreciate all of the work I invest into Phoronix.com for 80~100 hours per week single-handedly, please consider showing your support by subscribing to Phoronix Premium or making a PayPal tip so that these articles can continue along with other interesting Linux hardware reviews (at the very least, please don't use ad-blockers!).
