The Linux Mint crew has released the first release candidates of Linux Mint Debian Edition 2 "Betsy" with the Cinnamon and MATE desktop spins.

For those preferring Linux Mint off a Debian base rather than Ubuntu, the LMDE2 release is on approach. Over traditional Linux Mint, the LMDE variety is said to be slightly faster and run on newer packages than the Ubuntu-based LM.

Those interested in trying out this distribution update can find the LMDE 2 Cinnamon RC and LMDE 2 MATE RC.
