Imagination Technologies has released a Debian 8 release candidate for their MIPS Creator CI20 single-board computer.

Debian 8 for the CI20 is using the Linux 3.18 MIPS kernel. There are major driver upgrades for the PowerVR graphics, new WiFi firmware, increased Ethernet download speeds from 30Mbps to 70Mbps, etc.

Imagination developers are still working on video hardware acceleration support for media players as well as audio recording support.

More details on the Debian 8 upgrade for the CI20 via the Imagination blog. Earlier this summer I ran some MIPS CI20 Linux benchmarks using Debian 7 while now I'll likely run some new tests shortly comparing the performance to this Debian 8 and upgraded kernel.
