OPERATING SYSTEMS
Linux Mint 12 has been officially released.

What makes this Ubuntu derivative update special is that it combines the GNOME 3 desktop with the Mint GNOME Shell Extensions, to provide for a better desktop experience and just not another run-of-the-mill GNOME3 experience (or using Ubuntu Unity).

There's also the MATE desktop environment for providing a GNOME2 experience, artwork improvements, and various other highlights.
