KDE 4.9 surfaced this morning as expected for this six-month update to the KDE desktop.

Among the enhancements to be found in KDE Release 4.9 is a lot of work on the Dolphin FIle Manager, substantial improvements to KWin / Activities / Konsole, Okular / Kopete / KDE PIM progress, and bug-fies and quality improvements throughout the KDE Software Compilation 4.9 stack.

The KDE 4.9 release is dedicated to Claire Lotion, a KDE volunteer that lost her life earlier this year.

More details on the KDE 4.9 release are available from KDE.org.

Today also marks the release of the Amarok 2.6 Release Candidate; those Amarok media player details are available here.
