The first point release for Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" was released on Thursday evening.

Canonical's Kate Stewart announced the release of Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS, which incorporates about four months of stable package updates for the Ubuntu Desktop, Server, Cloud, and Core products.

Aside from the stable release updates, Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS introduces initial support for the Calxeda ECX-1000 ARM SoCs.

In addition, "The Ubuntu Cloud Archive also makes its debut - essentially an online software repository from which administrators can download the latest versions of OpenStack for use with the latest long-term support (LTS) release of Ubuntu."

Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS is available for download from Ubuntu.com. The Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS release announcement can be read on the ubuntu-announce list.

Shortly after announcing the 12.04.1 release, Kate went on to then announce the feature freeze for Ubuntu 12.10, the Quantal Quetzal.
