Since Wednesday's launch of May's CATALYST suite, which consists of the Linux fglrx driver, there has been numerous reports of problems when using R200 hardware. Of course, the fglrx v8.25.18 has brought many changes and a few new features beyond what was found in last month's 8.24.08 driver candidate. We have had no problems using these Linux drivers with newer hardware, but we are in the process of looking into this R200 8.25 issue. The only ATI comment at this time has been that they aren't focusing on the older hardware. Of course, the R200 series does have reliable open-source drivers, as well as the ATI Radeon R300 series. Once we know any additional information, we will try to pass it on. Our ATI fglrx v8.25.18 driver article can be found here. UPDATE In the unofficial ATI Bugzilla, more information is available.
