AMD has released updates to their multi-platform APP SDK for Accelerated Parallel Processing as well as to CodeXL, their closed-source tool for analyzing OpenCL code.

AMD APP SDK 2.8 bundles in the Bolt C++ template library and also introduces support for 64-bit atomics. Bolt though is the main addition of this 2.8 release. The APP SDK 2.8 version was released last week for Windows and Linux operating systems. The APP SDK works best with Catalyst 12.10 and can be downloaded from the AMD developer area.

AMD at the same time also released version 1.0 of CodeXL. "AMD CodeXL is a comprehensive tool suite that enables developers to harness the benefits of AMD CPUs, GPUs and APUs. It includes powerful GPU debugging, comprehensive GPU and CPU profiling, and static OpenCL kernel analysis capabilities, enhancing accessibility for software developers to enter the era of heterogeneous computing. AMD CodeXL is available both as a Visual Studio extension and a standalone user interface application for Windows and Linux."

AMD CodeXL is also available from the AMD developer site.
