Apache Puts Out Cassandra 1.2 NoSQL Database

The Apache Software Foundation has announced the release of Cassandra. Version 1.2 of the Cassandra big data "NoSQL" distributed database introduces several new features to the open-source project.

Among the features new to Apache Cassandra 1.2 is support for clustering across virtual nodes, inter-node communication handling, atomic batches, request tracing, and a new version of the Cassandra Query Language (CQL3).

Cassandra 1.2 is also capable of being integrated within Hadoop but there is not yet any proper support for MapReduce.
