As expected, the beta of Left 4 Dead 2 is now natively available to Linux gamers via Valve's Steam.

Coming just one day after the Portal Linux release, Left 4 Dead 2, another very popular Valve Software title, is now on Steam for Linux. Left 4 Dead 2 is a cooperative first person shooter that continues to be popular among Windows gamers.

This release is a nice end to the week after finding out earlier that Steam Linux usage is on the decline but with more of the modern and still popular Valve games now being offered up to Linux gamers, hopefully this will cause a rise in Steam Linux usage as the summer approaches.

Left 4 Dead 2 was the first Valve Linux-native game I played back at Valve's headquarters just over one year ago when exclusively breaking their Linux gaming plans. Left 4 Dead 2 is offered on SteamPowered.com for $19.99 USD.
