For those not out in Boston this week for the 2013 Red Hat Summit, new details on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.0 have emerged.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.0 is due out in the second half of 2013 and Red Hat's Denise Dumas has revealed the desktop environment will be GNOME3's classic mode -- a.k.a. not the standard GNOME3 Shell environment.

The GNOME 3 Classic mode is a closer fit to the GNOME 2.x desktop environment than is the standard Shell mode, which finds the customers more fitting of RHEL products. There's still progress to make, but overall Red Hat seems comfortable with the classic mode of GNOME 3.x for RHEL7.
